The Galaxy I5800 3 measures 113.5 x 55 x 12.9 mm in dimension. It weighs around 109 grams. The design is highly simple with just a thin silver trim around the D-pad. The handset is completely made of plastic. The device has a design that is highly minimal. Its glossy plastic finish attracts finger prints frequently.

The touch screen display measures 3.2 inches and it is capacitive in nature. It supports 16 million colors with 240 x 400 pixel resolution. The touch screen’s capacitive nature makes it more responsive as it senses even the lightest tap. The screen displays quality images that are bright with decent contrast levels. However, it is highly reflective under direct sunlight.

The D- pad and the Android keys are arranged under the display. The D-pad looks like a simple middle key but it is used to scroll in all the four directions. The four common Android keys such as Menu, Back, Search and Home are visible only when their backlight is on. These are also capacitive in nature.

The proximity sensor, accelerometer and the earpiece are placed on top of the display. The lanyard eyelet and the volume rocker are on the left spine of the handset while the right side is bare without any key. The 3.5 mm audio jack, power or lock key and a cover protecting the micro USB port are placed on the top. The back side has the camera lens along with the battery cover that conceals the SD card slot and the SIM card slot.

Text Input

The on screen QWERTY keyboard works in both landscape as well as portrait modes. The keyboard uses the finger swype method rather than key taps. Though the finger passes through the other keys on the keyboard the Swype accurately identifies the keys that were intended to be entered the user. It has high precision meaning that it enables the users to type accurately and quickly.
